PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Set the output boundary before adjusting composition and direction

Resize, crop, rotation and flip controls help prepare an image for a defined delivery size. Start in the visual editor: drag the crop frame to reposition it and pull any corner to refine the composition, then use the percentage, ratio and pixel controls for precise adjustment. Ratio presets help with composition, but they do not make an image compliant with an institution or platform; always follow the required pixels, background, file size and upload validation.

Example: prepare a landscape cover and portrait avatar

For a landscape cover, choose 16:9, move the visible crop frame to keep the subject in view, then set a maximum width and choose WebP or AVIF. For a portrait avatar, choose 1:1, 3:4 or 2:3, pull the crop-frame corners to tighten the composition, and use 90-degree rotation or flips to correct the direction. Before exporting, confirm the subject is intact; choose PNG, WebP or AVIF if transparency must remain.
