Tips and examples+

PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Choose the cleanup rules, then review what could be removed

Line-level deduplication is useful for lists, labels and pasted checklists, but it does not understand meaning. When enabled, the tool ignores English letter case and keeps the first occurrence of each line.

Example: clean a duplicated event-registration list

Paste one name per line, enable Trim each line, Remove blank lines and Remove duplicate lines, then compare the output line count. Copy the original text first: people with the same name should not be deduplicated automatically.

Before you copy

  • Confirm that each line is an independent record that can safely be compared
  • Review whether different casing, nicknames or similar spelling should count as different content
  • Process sensitive lists, accounts or private information only on a device you trust
